The Fruits of the Spirit and the Deadly Sins in Sport 

The fifth deadly sin we’re discussing is envy. Not jealousy. Not covetousness. Envy. Even though all of these vices are depicted by the color green, and they’re all in the same family, they’re not the same thing.

The root of envy is comparison. And what better place to sow the seeds of comparison than sport! So does that mean that sport breeds envy? While it might, Brian and Chad argue that it doesn’t have to.

They also argue that envy is misdirected emotion. Envy has a target, but that target is the scapegoat of the envier’s real problems.
